Good Maintenance = 4P +3T
Good Maintenance = 4P +3T
Any Aircraft operator when he commences to operate a new type Aircraft , he must stick
to the following points in order to get and obtain a good maintenance at his facility.
To reach that goal he has to apply strictly this equation :
(4P +3T= Good Maintenance)
Where:
4P : Procedure , Personnel , Publications and Parts
3T: Training, Tools and TQM.
Procedure :
As we see the first factor is the procedure which is the internal global system and scope
of work (SOW) that the facility is based on it .
It is so important to identify the road map of the facility since the day zero of operation .
Person
person , the human being who will do actually the maintenance tasks :
This person has to be well educated , appropriate type rate holder , trained enough ,
appreciate the team working values and principals , knowledge updated .
Publications :
It is so important to be periodically updated , revised , classified according to its type :
(Maintenance manuals , Flight manuals , service bulletins ,..etc )
Maintenance manuals are classified according to its contents chapters as the Aircraft
manufacturer illustrated .
Also should be classified according to the level of applied maintenance :
- AVUM : Aviation Unit Maintenance or the line maintenance .
- AVIM : Aviation Intermediate maintenance or the shop maintenance.
- Overhaul Maintenance or The 3rd line maintenance .
- Parts :
Parts are the key element for the facility , it has to be classified externally and internally.
External classification of parts : - Routable items ( Repair and return ) .
- Consumables items ( systematic and on condition items ) .
- Shelf Life items ( Greases , adhesives , sealants , …etc )
Internal classification of parts : the parts must be computerized digitally saved in its
stores , serialized by its Part Numbers ( P/Ns ) or National Stock Numbers ( NSN ) or with
both . - Training : its is the guarantee that the facility is keep moving forward with its high level
close to the standard requirement for each aviation facility. - Tools : its so important to perform the requested tasks , it has to be well identified ,
continually revised , serialized according to the used technical specification. - TQM : The Total Quality Management :
The TQM with its two wings ( Assurance and Control ) is the verifying tool inside each
facility that is so important to check that all the above elements meet the quality
standards and according to all certified publications and instructions of both ICAO and
IATA.
